During June 2011, Dairymark.com has published a report a report entitled ‘Free trade Agreements – A Perspective for Dairy’.
As background, the FTA approach to overcoming trade obstacles associated with the stalled WTO process is receiving considerable attention. Of interest is the TPP, with possible annexation of Japan of interest in developing a relatively unencumbered and strong Asia Pacific bloc trading region. Of importance:
- The report talks about Free Trade Agreements from the perspective of global dairy trade – including contentious issues, opportunities, developments, and alternative cross border initiatives
- As background, comprehensive coverage is given of key countries (importers, exporters) in terms of their trade profiles
- The largest global dairy trader is New Zealand’s Fonterra Co-operative Group – thus considerable emphasis is given to New Zealand’s position with regards to FTAs, and more specifically to Fonterra’s perspective and strategies in this important area of activity
- An outlook for the global dairy industry in overall supply/demand terms is provided
